2. Metal structure connection

(1) bolt connection of tower body

For the connection of metal structure, the state administration of quality supervision, inspection and quarantine lifting machinery supervision and inspection procedures" clearly requiresb bolt connection shall not be loose.

 there should be no missing parts, damage and other defects, high strength bolts should have enough pre-tightening torque, inspection method is stipulated as using torque wrench to check the high strength bolt connection.

Pre-tightening moment is very important in high-strength bolt connection of tower body. Due to the torque generated when the tower body rotates, if the pre-tightening torque of the high-strength bolt pair of the tower body fails to meet the design requirements.

The bolt will be subjected to shear force, resulting in the bolt being simultaneously subjected to shear, tension and uneven force, making the bolt stress more complex and dangerous.

During the inspection, the preliminary inspection of the pre-tightening torque of the bolt of the standard section of the tower body can be carried out by using the direct observation method, that is, the inspectors are located in the middle of the standard section of the tower body to observe the connection of the standard section at the main chord of the tower body under tension.

At the same time, the tower crane left and right rotation, if you can hear the metal squeaking sound, also shows that bolt connection is not tight Then use torque wrenches or other methods to inspect carefully to improve the inspection efficiency.

The author once encountered a case that the bolt of the tower crane base strengthening section upper part caused the bolt prescription steel to pull and crack.

(2) lifting boom pin shaft connection

When checking the connection status of the lifting boom pin shaft, attention should be paid to the fixed status of the shaft end baffle and the pin cotter pin. Special attention should be paid to the connecting form of the pin shaft of the heavy arm as shown in FIG. 2.

The pin shaft is of equal diameter, and the internal displacement of the pin shaft is shifted by the pin shaft baffle. When the tower crane is used for many years, the pin shaft baffle is likely to wear out or fall off, making it possible for the pin shaft to move off and cause arm folding accident.
